Former Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has spent part of this week catching up with former Hoops loan hero Patrick Roberts.

The 22-year-old left the Hoops for Arsenal last month in a record breaking £25m deal.

It was a move that proved controversial amongst a section of the Celtic support.

Tierney had built up a special relationship with fans, with many feeling like he’d be a player who had ambitions to stay with the club for a number of years.

However, he’s chosen to pursue a career in a bigger league.

Meeting up with Patrick Roberts now appears to have hurt some fans still pining for the duo to be playing their football in a Celtic shirt.

Tierney posted the update on his Instagram stories feed on Thursday.

Roberts was also a popular player with supporters after an extended spell on loan from Manchester City. The winger scored 18 goals and assisted 26 times in 78 appearances for the club.

He also famously had quite the friendship with Tierney during his time in Glasgow, with the duo clearly enjoying the opportunity to play in the same side. It’s no surprise to see the pair on friendly terms down in England.

With neither available for the Hoops anymore, the picture didn’t go down particularly well with some supporters.
