Celtic’s Greg Taylor has not made that many starts for the Hoops since joining the club from Kilmarnock on transfer deadline day back in September.
The left-back was handed a start in the Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Partick Thistle at Firhill, and he performed well for the Hoops, in Celtic’s 2-1 victory.
Taylor spent almost the entire game attacking, helping the Hoops create chances. He was also solid in defence, and Neil Lennon will be pleased with his performance.
Best performance for the Hoops so far
It was probably Taylor’s best performance in a Celtic shirt, and some Hoops fans on social media reacted accordingly.
One fan proclaimed Taylor to be the ‘best left-back’ at the club. Another felt that Taylor was ‘much more comfortable’ in possession than fellow left-back Boli Bolinogli.
Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Taylor’s performance:
Greg Taylor is our best left back

That’s a very decent first half. Playing some really lovely passing football. We need a few more goals, tho. Greg Taylor surely deserves a run in the side?

It will be interesting to see if Taylor keeps his place in the side going forward. So far this season, Neil Lennon has rotated his left-backs.
At times, Taylor, Jonny Hayes and Boli Bolingoli have all played at left-back for Celtic this season. That is testament to the quality of the squad that the Hoops have, that three players are battling it out for one position.
Makes good case to be first choice for Hoops
Perhaps Neil Lennon, in the second-half of the season, will decide to have a first choice at left-back. If that is the case, Taylor made a good case for himself against Partick Thistle.
He should keep his place in the side for Celtic’s next game. The reason for that – Celtic are travelling to Kilmarnock to play on the plastic pitch at Rugby Park.
That match should suit Taylor to a tee, and should ensure that he starts his second game in a row. Another good performance in that game, and Taylor could find himself a Hoops mainstay in the weeks to come.
