An interesting statistic has showed just how important Celtic loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi has been to the Hoops in the league this season.

Celtic recently put up a list of the five Hoops players who have had the most shots on target for the club in the league so far this season on the club’s Twitter account.

Unsurprisingly, Odsonne Edouard lead the way with 24 shots on target. That is what you would expect from a striker. Perhaps more interestingly, Elyounoussi was fifth on the list with seven shots on target – which have led to four goals.

More than 50% of the shots the player has had on target for the Hoops this season have led to a goal, a notable statistic.

That shows how important the player has been to the Hoops in the league so far this season. When an attacker scores with more of 50% of their shots on target, then you know the player has plenty of talent.

The Hoops must encourage Elyounoussi to have more shots on target. It could lead to more goals for the Southampton loanee.

Perhaps that could happen if the player drifted into the middle of the park during games. He could swap positions with either Ryan Christie or James Forrest for a spell, and have a few shots on goal.

Of course, firstly the Hoops must look to get the player fully fit. He returned from injury in the Betfred Cup Final, but didn’t have much of an impact on the game, and was replaced at half-time.

However, when he is on his game, Elyounoussi has been a superb player for the Hoops in his short time at the club, as the shots on target to goals ratio shows.

Hopefully when he returns to full fitness he can add to his impressive goal tally and help the Hoops stay top of the Premiership.
