Veteran former Everton defender Phil Jagielka is reportedly a target for Celtic. However, one of his former team-mates at Everton, Steven Naismith, doesn’t believe that the player will move to Glasgow.
He thinks the player is far more likely to remain in England.
“He’s got more association with different clubs down south, like Sheffield United where he came through, and he has a family with kids who are going through school” Naismith said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“I’d be surprised”

“So with all those thoughts to consider I’d be surprised if he comes to Scotland.”
Jagielka has certainly had a good career. However, it could be that his best days as a player are behind him, which is why he is leaving Everton.
He would add experience to the Celtic defence without a doubt. There hasn’t been a really experienced defender at the club since Kolo Toure.

Short-term solution
However, as good as Toure was he ended up being a short-term solution for the Hoops. You would imagine that if Jagielka joined the Hoops then it would be the same thing.
Celtic do need some experienced players for the battle for nine in a row next season. That could be why Jagielka is reportedly a target.
However, should Naismith’s comments be correct, he won’t be making the move to Glasgow.
