One of Celtic target Luca Connell’s team-mates at Bolton firmly believes that the midfielder can be a star for the Hoops should he move to Glasgow.

The Hoops are reported to be in talks with Bolton about bringing the player to the club. Should the deal go through, Bolton goalkeeper Remi Matthews has little doubt that the player can become successful for Celtic.

“I would have no worries at all about him going up there and handling the expectation that comes with playing for such a massive club in front of 60,000 people” Matthews said, as reported by the Evening Times.

Matthews then made a very bold claim about Connell, and the influence he would have on the Celtic side.

“If he was to go to Celtic, he would be their leading assist provider by the end of the season. That’s how good he is.”

A tall order to lead team

Matthews has played with Connell on a regular basis. He knows how good the player can be. But suggesting that he can be assist leader in his first season sounds like a tall order.

It is more likely that the player would be used sparingly in his first season with the Hoops. Perhaps he would even be sent out on loan.

However, if the player is as good as Matthews says he is then he could be another welcome addition to the Celtic squad.
