The Celtic Adam Idah pursuit domino that could trigger transfer movement

Celtic have been pursuing Adam Idah all window after Brendan Rodgers made it clear he wants his countryman back at Parkhead.

After the Cork-born man fired the Hoops to Scottish Cup glory against Rangers in May, Rodgers let the board know his feelings in no uncertain terms.

Nevertheless, he remains a Norwich City player despite constant anticipation surrounding his situation. The Canaries internally disciplined Idah for reporting late to part of their pre-season camp, but even that hasn’t tipped the scales in the Bhoys’ favour as of yet.

Either way, they remain firmly in the running for his signature. At this stage in the window, you get the impression the Scottish Premiership champions will chase him right until the end of the window.

Norwich have shown they aren’t pushovers to negotiate with. Idah is their player, they have an element of control in the situation. Regardless, there could be a domino that could hasten his path back to Celtic following nine goals in 19 appearances last season.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Norwich City have registered an interest in Leicester City forward Tom Cannon, who may be available on a loan deal nearer the end of the window.

Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion are also rumoured to be keen on the Republic of Ireland international, given that he is unlikely to be given regular game time in the Premier League.

Jamie Vardy’s current injury may throw a spanner in the works. However, it is clear to see there is a potential path for circumstances to change, which may work in the Hoops’ favour before the window closes.

From a personal perspective, you get the impression Idah would relish a return to Celtic. He made a real impression north of the border last term, scoring some pivotal goals for the Bhoys that proved invaluable in their eventual domestic double success.

Holding out despite questions over whether they will be able to land his services, Rodgers appears determined to do everything in his power to bring Idah back to Parkhead.

A waiting game has ensued between Celtic and Norwich. Now, it is a case of who blinks first as the saga continues to dominate headlines.
