The Celtic support are set to shine again this weekend as the Viaplay era of the Scottish League Cup gets underway at Hampden Park.

Ange Postecoglou’s are two games from glory as we take on Kilmarnock in Glasgow.

To get to this stage we have already seen off Ross County and Motherwell by a total scoreline of 8-1, but that was when the competition was known as the Premier Sports Cup.

On November 1, the SPFL confirmed that Viaplay (who bought Premier Sports earlier last year) would now be the title sponsor.

The competition is now called the Viaplay Cup and its key matches will be shown exclusively on Viaplay.

Adding to the feeling of this being a new-look competition is the inclusion of VAR for the first time.

Saturday’s game will kick off at 5:30pm – with the Saturday evening semi-final slot something Celtic have become used to in recent years.

In November 2019 we thrashed Hibernian 5-2 under the lights while St. Johnstone were seen off 1-0 in last season’s semi.

On both occasions the Celtic support has flocked to Hampden in its tens of thousands.

With tickets sold out for Saturday since mid-December, we can expect another Hoops travelling around the 40,000 mark, ready to shine again under the Hampden lights.

That will be music to the ears of Viaplay as they get set for the perfect launch.
