Most Celtic fans have already consigned themselves to a Hoops side without Odsonne Edouard.
The prolific Frenchman looked certain to leave the club this summer, before an intriguing development on Thursday evening.

The Daily Mail reported that Edouard was now considering seeing his contract out at Celtic, and leaving on a free in 12 months time.
While the extreme likelihood is still that the 23-year-old will move on before September 1st, it has got this humble writer dreaming a little.
So let’s ponder the perfect set of circumstances that could leave all parties happy at the parting of the ways.
Edouard could help Celtic to Champions League prize pot
This season’s Scottish Premiership winners will almost certainly bank an automatic spot in the following season’s Champions League group stage.
Only this season’s Champions League winners not qualifying via their domestic league would spoil those hopes. That hasn’t happened since Chelsea in 2012.
Celtic would miss out on any fee for Edouard should he stay another year, but he could help fire us to a much greater windfall.
The Frenchman would then be free to depart, ending his time at the club on a proper high.

Of course, many will point to his patchy form last season and suggest that his thoughts have been elsewhere in recent times.
But surely the arrival of Ange Postecoglou could have him fired up again, and ready to show what he is really about.
I’m probably torturing myself with these thoughts, in the knowledge that Edouard is still extremely likely to move on.
But who doesn’t love a happy ending, eh?
