Celtic prospect Adam Montgomery is currently enjoying a spell out on loan at fellow Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.
The 20-year-old academy graduate joined Callum Davidson’s side in the summer in order to help aid his development for the future.
Montgomery is believed to be rated by Ange Postecoglou and the coaches at Parkhead, having featured on 16 occasions for the first team last campaign.

After some brilliant experience working as part of the first team squad in 2021, the club decided the next best step for Montgomery’s development was to head out on loan.
A short spell at Aberdeen for the second half of last season followed. But injury issues meant the left-sided player missed out on regular game time.
So another loan spell followed in the 2022/23 campaign, and things appear to be going well for the Celtic youngster at McDiarmid Park.
So far, Montgomery has made 16 appearances for the Saints, featuring in 11 of their 16 Scottish Premiership fixtures before the winter break.
Once the season commences following the conclusion of the World Cup break later this month, Montgomery and St Johnstone will return to action with fixtures against Ross County, Celtic and Hearts before the turn of the year.
However, the left-back’s outings against the Jambos on December 28th could be his final fixture for the Perth side, with St Johnstone’s initial loan agreement only being until January.

Logical next step for Montgomery is loan extension at St Johnstone or Celtic will need to find new temporary side.
Depending on when St Johnstone’s loan agreement is dated until Montgomery could feature in further games in January.
But what we know for sure at this stage is that when we enter the month of February, Adam Montgomery will be back at Lennoxtown.
Having featured for St Johnstone quite regularly this season and now appearing settled into the squad, it feels that the next logical step is for Celtic and St Johnstone to extend the left-back’s loan stay.
Although the Hoops prospect will face competition for places, with the likes of Callum Booth returning from injury, it is a task that should help further his development.
If Callum Davidson decides against extending the loan deal past January, then it feels important that the Bhoys find Montgomery a new temporary home to see out the season.

Greg Taylor has found himself on fine form this campaign. So, it would be best for the on-loan Celtic man to continue playing regular minutes elsewhere.
It should be interesting to see what the next step for Montgomery is and whether Ange Postecoglou’s squad will be welcoming him back in training.
However, the logical next step feels like remaining at the Saints or heading out on loan once again during a crucial period of his development as a player.
