Celtic’s pursuit of Oskar Wojcik is all but over after the Polish defender agreed personal terms on a big-money move to Werder Bremen.

Celtic have been tracking Wojcik since January and reignited their interest in the centre-back this summer as Martin O’Neill looked to bolster his defensive options.

But now, Polish outlet Meczyki reports that Wojcik is set to move to Werder Bremen in a deal that could be finalised over the coming days.

Celtic supporters have debated football’s authorities for years. Is FIFA any different? Have your say below.

Werder Bremen acted while Celtic stood still

Celtic have held interest in Wojcik for the last six months and have now been given their answer as Werder Bremen snap him up for just €3m.

The Parkhead club have now missed out on one of the brightest talents to emerge from Polish football at a price that was within their range.

Wojcik made his intentions clear with an aim to move to one of the biggest leagues in Europe and that could have automatically ruled Celtic out.

But if the question was never asked, how could the Glasgow giants know that Wojcik would never have said yes to Champions League football and the chance to win silverware?

What Wojcik’s move says about Celtic’s transfer window

The latest Wojcik development is symptomatic of Celtic’s transfer window of not just this summer, but of previous seasons.

Players are targeted, offers are made and even discussions are held, but when it comes to the crunch, Celtic just cannot seem to get deals done.

The Hoops support have seen this movie before. Another name linked with Celtic now looks destined to end up somewhere else.
