The one position Celtic should not spend their transfer budget on

Celtic’s transfer business this summer has certainly been intriguing. So far, the Hoops have signed a centre-back, a left-back, a midfielder and another centre-back who may end up playing right-back.

There is still over a month until the transfer window closes in Scotland, so you would expect the Hoops to make more signings before the deadline.

Position has not been strengthened

One position that has not been strengthened yet is that of striker. This is despite Neil Lennon claiming that the position was a ‘priority‘ for the Hoops.

However, at the moment striker is not a position that the Hoops should be looking to strengthen. The club already have two goalscorers who look in good form this season – Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.

There is also the wild card of Ryan Christie, who is thriving in the ‘number 10’ role and looks as it he could score as many goals as a striker this season.

Duo are more than capable of adding goals

The likes of Mikey Johnston and James Forrest are more than capable of adding to Celtic’s goal tally. For the moment the Hoops need to concentrate on buying another right-back, and possibly another midfielder.

Should one of Celtic’s strikers get injured then the Hoops should look to bring in another forward. They could also reassess the situation in January.

For now though, it is not a position that the club needs to be looking to buy players in.
