In 24 hours’ time, Celtic will be making their long-awaited return in a pre-season friendly against SC Wiener Viktoria.
The Bhoys have slowly started to return to training since last Monday. However, tomorrow evening will mark the first fixture of the 2022/23 campaign.
As it is every year, the Celtic supporters are buzzing to see Ange Postecoglou’s squad back, even just in friendly action.
Not only are Celtic fans looking forward to seeing the players play out a 90-minute match, but also catch a potential glimpse of what they have been working on the training ground.
It is fair to say that last year, both the support and Postecoglou weren’t really afforded the opportunity to look forward to pre-season due to the amount of work that was needing to be done.
During the Hoops’ trip to Wales, the Celtic manager opened up on his concerns for the fitness of the squad, and a large number of additions were needed before the end of the transfer window.
Of course, the 56-year-old went on to bring in 12 new signings in total. However, the majority of those came once the competitive campaign was already underway.
So, Postecoglou didn’t have much chance to work with them on the training ground.
This time around, the former Socceroos boss has a squad in much better shape. In the opening weeks of the window, Postecoglou has also introduced four key new additions before pre-season training even got underway.

With that in mind, it will be intriguing to see what the Hoops boss is aiming to improve across the next five weeks, starting with tomorrow night’s opening game.
It has become quite unique to see Celtic have an uninterrupted pre-season. However, this season, Postecoglou and his players have exactly that opportunity.
One thing that supporters will be sure of is that Ange will be looking to use this time to his full advantage and make improvements to his squad ahead of the next campaign.
It is unlikely we will see all of those improvements or changes right away on Wednesday. But, we might just be handed our first glimpse of why the Parkhead faithful should be excited for 2022/23.
EFL sides introduce away supporter initiative; Celtic and Scottish Football should follow suit.
