The emergence of Lewis Morgan may have lessened the need for Celtic to sign another left-winger this summer.

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail linked Celtic with a move for St. Polten’s Husein Balic. The Bosnian-born wideman had impressed with his displays for Austria at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship over the summer and it was anticipated that Celtic would make their move.

However, since then Hoops winger Lewis Morgan has leapt on to the scene with a couple of good performances. Given his breakthrough and the other talent we have in the position, surely the need for Balic is gone?

Morgan has saved Celtic some money

Celtic have a number of key positions needing strengthened this summer and left-wing is no longer one. Our standout man so far this season has been Mikey Johnston but now it seems that he may have some real competition for his place.

Added to that, Daniel Arzani is still to make his return from a long-term injury.

Lennon made some interesting comments about potential new signings after the win over Sarajevo.

He told the Daily Record: “I think we’ll have something in the next few days hopefully. It might be a right-back, it might be a left-winger, it might be a centre-forward.

“Right-back is a priority, but we have a number of positions I’d like to strengthen like midfield and one or two attacking areas.

“You don’t want to overcook it either, but we want to add to the quality in the squad that we already have.”

If he doesn’t want to “overcook” it then surely signing Balic wouldn’t fit that bill. We’ll just have to wait and see what materialises over the next 48 hours.
