Let’s not skirt around the obvious, today’s Celtic win against Livingston was a bitter blow for Rangers and their supporters.

The focus on the Bhoys this weekend was intense. A lot of people were expecting Ange Postecoglou’s team to travel to West Lothian and draw, or worse.

That’s why Rangers players were admitting yesterday’s victory over Aberdeen was a big one. Scott Arfield was talking about how they had to keep the ‘heat’ on. [Scottish Sun]

The knives were being drawn for a Celtic performance that again struggled against a low block. People were ready to make conclusions about a Celtic team that were supposed to be outmatched physically by David Martindale’s side.

There was a fierce media narrative heading into today’s game and while that was much of Celtic’s own making due to results over the last few years, questions have been answered.

I’m not going to lie and say I wasn’t worried about today’s match but I’d always have the Bhoys down as favourites to beat Livingston.

This is still a new Celtic group and while they’ve suffered the sting of the Tony Macaroni arena already this season, they’re also improving all the time. They went with revenge on their mind today and were thoroughly professional about the three points.

Process beats perceived jinxes.

It now feels like the Bhoys have a real lack of bogey teams left in the Scottish Premiership. We won at Easter Road earlier in the season, we won today, Ross County haven’t been a problem.

There are now eight games left in the season and opportunities to drop points are rapidly running out, which must be anxiety-inducing for Rangers supporters.

Celtic have five home games and three away. The derby games could prove pivotal, but as long as we show up well in those then it’s going to be difficult to overhaul us.

One game at a time as always, but this is all starting to look like ours to throw away.
