67 Hail Hail has picked out three Celtic youngsters that could break into the first-team following Martin O’Neill’s latest comments.

O’Neill has urged for more younger players to be included in the squad and the Hoops should look no further than what they have right now.

Aside from Colby Donovan and Dane Murray there are no recent graduates but, here are three that may be closer to getting a chance.

Why are Celtic struggling to bring through academy players?

Hayden Borland – Defender

The centre-back is one of the young stars coming through the Hoops academy and looks to have a good future ahead of him.

Hayden Borland signed a new contract in March after representing Celtic B 30 times at the age of 18.

Despite playing in a defensive role, Borland has still managed three goals and could be the perfect understudy to Auston Trusty, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales.

Kyle Ure

Kyle Ure is one of the most well-known Celtic youngsters and the player most are pinning their hopes on.

Ure worked with Scott Brown at Ayr United and has received rave reviews, even though his season was somewhat derailed by a four-month period on the sidelines.

Midfield is going to be one of the big areas of change in the squad rebuild this summer, and having an academy player coming through to learn the trade off Callum McGregor would be a good way to pass the baton.

Hassan Dembele

Younger brother of Karamoko Dembele, Hassan is the latest in the family to be blessed with plenty of talent.

Hassan signed a professional contract in 2025 and has already featured for the B team at the age of 16.

He may still have a bit of time to go before he makes a real impact in the first-team squad, but keep an eye out on him as there is every chance that the midfielder could be making the step up in the future.
