Celtic have been linked with a summer transfer for former player Gary Hooper. The move for the striker is rumoured to hinge on whether Neil Lennon gets the Parkhead gig or not, with Hooper apparently intrigued by the possibility of a return.
The forward was one of Lennon’s first signings in the summer of 2010 when he took the job for the first time following an impressive time as interim manager. The parallels to the current situation are clear for all to see so should Lennon make the same moves again?
Let’s have a look at the top three signings that Lennon should look to make again.

Fraser Forster
Celtic finally signed the giant keeper in 2012 after he had spent two years on loan from Norwich City. He was number one in all four of Lennon’s seasons in charge and left shortly after the Northern Irishman. Southampton paid £10million for the England cap in 2014. He has since had three good seasons followed by two poorer ones.
Forster made his first start for the Saints in 494 days in the 3-0 defeat to West Ham at the weekend. He isn’t seen to have much of a future at Southampton and could be available for the Hoops on a cut-price fee despite his current contract running until 2022.

Beram Kayal
The Israeli midfielder spent five years at Celtic Park between 2010 and 2015, making 86 appearances. He has since played for Brighton and Hove Albion and scored his first Premier League goal earlier this season. The 31 year-old is contracted until June of next year but would probably be available for between three and five million pounds.

Stefan Johansen
Norwegian playmaker Stefan Johansen has gone from strength to strength since leaving Celtic in 2016. The 28 year-old helped Fulham to Championship promotion last season and is trying to do the same with his loan club West Brom this year. The Baggies are still in with a chance of making up through the play-offs and Johansen has been a consistent starter for them in recent times.
The midfielder is out of contract this summer so would be available on a free. If he fails to lead West Brom to promotion then Neil Lennon could do a lot worse than asking the question again.
