Three things Celtic must address in the international break

The international break is here and that means Celtic have the chance to address some of their major issues.

Celtic’s final game before the November internationals saw the Hoops beat Kilmarnock 4-0 and move to within seven points of Hearts with a game in hand.

Martin O’Neill is still in charge alongside Shaun Maloney for the time being and as it stands, will be in the dugout when the Bhoys face St Mirren on 22 November.

But, while there is a break between games, this is the perfect chance to address some issues at the club, and 67 Hail Hail has picked the three most important.

Appoint a permanent manager

Before anything else happens, Celtic need a new manager.

A shortlist of options has been devised by Celtic and it appears that Columbus Crew boss Wilfried Nancy is the frontrunner for the job.

Other candidates are also in the frame, including Kjetil Knutsen, Kieran McKenna, Craig Bellamy and others.

It is clear that the 73-year-old won’t become the permanent manager, and whoever takes that role needs time to assess the squad before the January transfer window.

The Celtic board must speak to the fans

Tensions between the supporters and the board have increased week-by-week.

Fans protested before the Falkirk game and there has been extreme backlash to the decision to ban the Green Brigade for six matches.

Dermot Desmond hasn’t spoken since Rodgers’ departures, and the rest of the board are yet to address ongoing concerns about the running of the Hoops.

This must change.

Start planning for the January transfer window

It may only be November, but the January transfer window is around the corner.

Although it may seem counter-intuitive to be looking for players before a new boss comes in, the club will surely have an idea of how they want to play.

67 Hail Hail understands that a move for Andy Robertson is unlikely, but there are others like David Watson who will be available to sign on a pre-contract agreement.

Striker Louis Munteanu could also be signed in a cut-price deal in what could prove to be a busy winter window.
