Celtic were held to a 1-1 draw against Hibs at Easter Road as the Hoops’ 100% record in the Premiership came to an end.
The Hoops were never at their best in the game, and went behind early to a Kristoffer Ajer own goal. A brilliant Ryan Christie header levelled the scores, but unfortunately that is where the scoring ended.
The Hoops pressed towards the end of the game, and were unfortunate to see two strong penalty calls turned down. Overall though, Celtic didn’t perform well enough on the day.
Here are three things we learned as Celtic dropped points for the first time this season:
Poor run at Easter Road goes on

Celtic’s recent record in the league at Easter Road must be concerning to all at the club. Since Hibs were promoted back to the Premiership, Celtic have played five games at Easter Road and have yet to win any of them. Interestingly though, the Hoops did win at Easter Road in March in the Scottish Cup, and it was a comfortable 2-0 victory. Overall though, it is now seven league games with a win for the Hoops at Easter Road. Football teams often have bogey grounds, and Easter Road currently seems to be Celtic’s.
Midfielder’s super scoring record continues

At times you are almost running out of superlatives for Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie. Christie is now on 11 goals for the season. That is a wonderful goal return for a midfielder when it is only September. His goal against Hibs was perhaps his best of the season, a precise header that gave the goalkeeper no chance. Celtic might not have been at their best at Easter Road, but Christie once again showed up for the Hoops.
Was it a mistake to take off Celtic’s best striker?

Neil Lennon gambled in the second-half as he took of Odsonne Edouard and was replaced by Vakoun Issouf Bayo. That might have been a mistake, as Edouard could have still supplied a goal, even though he wasn’t at his best. Perhaps it would have been a better idea to have put two strikers up-front for the last 20 minutes or so of the game. That could have provided the impetus to give the Hoops the three points. It didn’t happen though, and perhaps Neil Lennon will do that next time he is in a similar situation.
