With Celtic scoring a magnificent six goals at the weekend and returning to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, it’d be easy to overlook some other details of the Hoops’ big win.
One of those was the positive progress of Tom Rogic in Neil Lennon’s team.
The Australian international was given the nod in attacking midfield due to Ryan Christie’s suspension and managed to complete just his second full 90 minutes of the season. The other came in the Scottish League Cup victory against Partick Thistle.
Rogic isn’t exactly known for his stamina, managing to start and finish just 11 matches in the 2018/19 season.

How did he perform?
The 26-year-old wasn’t at his blistering best against County. However, he did show some brief glimpses of the exceptional natural ability he has.
There was one notable moment in the second half in particular when he produced a delightful pass for Vakoun Bayo that the striker should have done better with. That contribution with the outside of his boot is the Rogic we know and love.
Considering he only had 29 minutes of league football under his belt prior to Saturday’s match, it wasn’t the worst performance at all.
Lennon now has another midfield weapon to choose from going forward, providing the Australian can keep his fitness levels up.

Will he keep his place in the team?
It seems likely that Ryan Christie will come right back into the starting eleven on Thursday against Lazio.
His energy, pressing ability and final third contribution this season all make him the outstanding candidate in the attacking midfield position. Celtic’s game will be based around that. Christie is a key part of Lennon’s game plan in Europe.
However, there’s no reason to discount Rogic featuring against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday. Christie is again suspended for that one and the Australian has a tremendous record when playing the Dons. He’s scored five goals in his 16 matches against them.
As we witnessed against Livingston, Thursday to Sunday football can be tough for the Hoops given the efforts that go into European matches. Bringing in Rogic, as well as others, for the Scottish Premiership match could be the kind of spark we need.
