The Tranmere Rovers supporters are now urging their club to sign up Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan, after snapping up Hoops defender Lee O’Connor.
Both Doohan and O’Connor moved to the League Two club on loan at the start of the season. However, an agreement was reached with Celtic yesterday to sign the latter permanently.
O’Connor has been a regular in Micky Mellon’s squad, and after failing to win an opportunity under Ange Postecoglou in pre-season, his permanent departure always looked inevitable.
However, Doohan still has ambitions of being a first-choice Celtic goalkeeper. He said at the start of the season that his long-term goal is still to make it at Parkhead [Scottish Sun]. That’s despite the fact his contract is up in the summer.
He was sent down to the League Two club in order to gain regular minutes at a competitive level. But the truth is he’s going over and above as he stands out on a weekly basis under Mellon.
Ross Doohan flying with Tranmere; English fans want Celtic deal struck
Doohan has made 24 appearances for Tranmere this term after ousting former number 1 Joe Murphy. And he’s been a key reason as to why the Rovers are sitting 2nd and 7 points behind Forest Green Rovers at the top.

His recent form, meanwhile, has been absolutely electric. His latest clean sheet against Crawley Town on Saturday marked his 7th league shutout in 8 games. It’s been 9 games since he’s conceded more than 1 goal in a match. Doohan’s form has been remarkable in truth.
It will be interesting to see how Ange Postecoglou feels about his recent progress too. At only 23, Doohan has plenty of development in him, and he could be well on course for a new Parkhead contract if he keeps it up in 2022.
But the Tranmere fans have certainly made up their minds about Ross. They want him snapped up permanently just as much, if not more, than they wanted O’Connor signed.
And below, we take a look at some of those calls as the Rovers support make their demands clear:
The transformation this season has been brilliant. Great move for him, and both clubs 👍👌 Now we just need Ross Doohan 😂
