Celtic’s schedule of 11 games until the winter break at the end of December began with a comfortable win over Livingston, as the Hoops won 4-0 to go three points clear at the top of the league.

The 11 games take in three competitions: the Premiership, the Europa League, and the Betfred Cup Final. No one  at the club will admit it, but there are two games that stand out more than most – the Betfred Cup Final against Rangers on the 8th of December, and the league meeting between the teams at Celtic Park on the 29th.

Those fixtures take on extra significance as they are against Celtic’s biggest rivals. But there is also the matter of the first cup final against the Ibrox side since 2011. The league game could also be vital, as it is so close between the teams in the league table.

Celtic have already shown that they know how to beat Rangers this season. The 2-0 win at Ibrox in September showed what most Hoops fans believe to be the case – that Celtic are the better side of the Glasgow rivals. Now the Hoops have the chance to prove it on two more occasions before the winter break.

Winning not only the first trophy of the season, but also the second league meeting between the teams would give Celtic a huge psychological advantage going into the winter break.

It would set the Hoops up nicely for the second-half of the season, and would leave no doubt who is the best team not only in Glasgow, but in Scotland.

There are still some fixtures Celtic fave to play before the Betfred Cup Final. Important fixtures in both the league and in Europe.

However, even though those games will be key to Celtic staying top of the league and winning their Europa League group, the cup final does seem just that bit more important.
