We could be about to see the surest sign yet of Celtic progress under Ange

It’s going well at Celtic right now. As predicted by many during our run of poor results prior to the international break, the return to fitness of key players and new signings settling into the squad has result in an uptick in form.

Celtic have won four consecutive matches, two away from home, one in Europe and the last three with clean sheets. It’s good stuff.

Yet, a really stiff challenge awaits this week and victory would be the surest sign yet that Celtic are making great progress under Ange Postecoglou.

Celtic visit Easter Road to play Hibernian under the lights on Wednesday night in the pick of this week’s Scottish Premiership action.

Hibs actually had a decent start to the season and were unbeaten in their first seven fixtures. However, three consecutive defeats has increased questions about their direction and the form of the players.

But the context important to Celtic here is that the Bhoys haven’t won at Easter Road in the league on the last seven occasions. Nothing is going to come easy in Leith.

If Postecoglou can do what Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon couldn’t, picking up all three points, then it really will be time to raise the hype levels about this squad and the improvement in this new era.

The impressive way Celtic controlled the match at home to St Johnstone is to be commended. But improvement on that performance will likely be needed against Hibs. For starters, they should have more attacking ambition and pressing ability from players such as Martin Boyle, which will make life more difficult for the defensive unit both in and out of possession.

More chances could do with being created from open play too, with Jack Ross’ side likely to be highly motivated to re-energise their season against the biggest team in the country.

Celtic’s run of fixtures after Wednesday night is actually quite kind, so if we can reverse the trend of poor results in the capital, the team are really well placed to climb the table and put real pressure on the league leaders.

This is the acid test we’ve been waiting for.
