An interesting aspect of Celtic’s recent Champions League exit is what will happen in the transfer market for the Hoops.
There has to be a chance that the club will scale back on any potential ‘big name’ signings that were under consideration to be brought to the club.
Another aspect that will have to be taken into account is how will the result affect the future of Celtic’s part-time recruitment chief Nick Hammond.
Not known if key man will continue in job
Hammond joined on the 1st of July, initially for the duration of the summer transfer window. It is not known if his position will be made permanent.
However, the fact that the Hoops are in need to more players to improve the squad is a tad worrying. Perhaps after the transfer window closes there will be an announcement on Hammond’s future at the club.
Hoops need to make signings sharpish
Now would be a good time for Celtic to make some decent signings to make up for the loss to Cluj. Perhaps Hammond is helping with that process.
However, the fact that he was not given a long-term deal at the club does seem a bit odd. The position of technical/football director is a very important one at a club.
It remains to be seen if Hammond will continue in that role once the transfer window slams shut.
