Celtic may soon be able to dispense with Jack Hendry, but only if they can bring in another central-defender first.
The Scottish international has failed to play a single minute of first-team football since Neil Lennon came to the club in February, and that has led many to suggest that his days at Parkhead are numbered.

Hendry made just four league appearances during the whole of last season and isn’t expected to have much of a say this year either.
The former Dundee man may have shunted up the pecking order a little in recent months following the summer departures of Dedryck Boyata, Filip Benkovic and Mikael Lustig – who could all play the position.
However, he is still probably the club’s fifth choice central-defender following the acquisition of Christopher Jullien. So what do Celtic need to do before they can cut all ties with the colossal failure?

Hendry can go if Celtic sign one more centre-back
Lennon is probably keen to add one more central-defender to his ranks. The Northern Irishman is likely to go with Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer as his two first-choice men this season.
Jozo Simunovic is also an able enough defender while the jury is still out on Nir Bitton playing in the position.

It will be interesting to see what kind of player Celtic look to bring in. There’s an argument that we could perhaps do with an experienced head at the back. Someone who could come in when required and do a neat job.
However, don’t be surprised to see the club go down the loan route for a defender again. In recent seasons we’ve added the likes of Filip Benkovic and Jason Denayer to our ranks on temporary deals and both were pretty decent additions.
The club may feel that the loan market is, once again, our best financial option in terms of centre-back cover. It’s one to keep an eye on for sure. As for Hendry – the sooner he leaves, the better.
