With the media hype that has gone on across the city in recent weeks, you may have been forgiven for thinking that Celtic trail our rivals by nine points.
Instead, it is Ange Postecoglou’s side who enjoy that points advantage at the top of the Premiership.
Rangers have parted company with a beleaguered manager and brought in someone new to try and wrestle the control from Postecoglou and Celtic.

Since the appointment, we’ve seen a number of favourable headlines, such as this one today surrounding Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and a friendly match.
It’s almost like every summer when Rangers are hyped after big friendly wins only for Celtic to come out on top when the competitive stuff starts.
In comparison to the noise coming from Ibrox since they last played a competitive match, Celtic have been virtually silent.
In the last week we’ve only had one real communication from anyone associated with the first-team – Postecoglou after the weekend clash with Rennes.
Given that we know how hard the team train under Ange, the quiet is no bad thing.

Under the Aussie, the team have tended to do their talking on the pitch. They have also returned from breaks raring to go.
The first-team did so last winter, winning eight games in a row before Bodo/Glimt.
After a long break at the start of this season they won seven games in a row before Real Madrid came calling.
If we can go on a similar run from Saturday onwards, the league may be all but over by mid February.
Given that we have returned from the winter break in the better form in all but one of the last five years, a repeat may be likely.
