Why Celtic should keep Scottish Cup magic alive against Auchinleck Talbot ahead of stadium decision

Celtic have been handed one of the ties of the round as they face non-league opposition in Auchinleck Talbot.

The Scottish Cup fourth round draw has pitted them up against the West of Scotland League Premier Division outfit in early 2026.

Auchinleck’s manager is hoping that they can play at Beechwood Drive, and there will be debate about whether the game should be moved to another ground so that more fans can pack the stands.

Money may mean something, but memories are so much more and that should make the debate an easy decision.

Auchinleck Talbot vs Celtic should be played at Beechwood Drive

As they are based in Ayrshire, Talbot may be given the opportunity to play at Kilmarnock’s Rugby Park or Ayr United’s Somerset Park.

Beechwood Drive can hold anywhere between 3,500-4,000, which are obviously less than the other two.

However, the hosts have deserved the chance to play at their home tie after some impressive performances in the cup.

If truth be told, Celtic fans would also like to head to Beechwood Drive for quite a different experience to what they are usually used to.

In the past, non-league sides have had the glamour of coming to Celtic Park but this time, the shoe should be on the other foot.

Have Auchinleck Talbot ever played Celtic before?

The meeting between the two teams will be the first competitive match in history.

Neither side has ever been in the same league or come up against each other in a cup competition.

There have also been no friendly matches against the two sides, setting up a historic afternoon in January next year.
