Will Neil Lennon rest his Celtic stars in Tallinn?
Neil Lennon now has the luxury of resting some of his first-team stars when Celtic travel to Tallinn next week.
The Hoops will go into the second leg of their tie against Nomme Kalju leading 5-0 from the home encounter. The gulf in quality between the Scottish and Estonian champions was clear to see from the off and the tie as a contest is over.
Celtic could field an entirely different team next week and still see the job through. So will Lennon do exactly that?
Will Lennon send his big guns to Tallinn?
With the Hoops due to open their league campaign less than four days after the match in Estonia, Lennon may consider leaving some of his star men at home.
The Estonian capital is approximately 1,100 miles away from Glasgow so it’s a fair old distance for what in effect is a dead rubber.
Of course, the reality is that Lennon will send his star-men to finish off the job they started. He may feel that the likes of Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer need more minutes in their legs ahead of tougher ties.
UEFA’s 25 man squad limit also doesn’t give him too much room to move things around.
However, you can probably expect a few changes. The match may be the perfect opportunity for Christopher Jullien to make his competitive debut while Olivier Ntcham could be another who is given a chance to impress.
It’s a good position to be in, that’s for sure.
