Season’s greetings to all of you Celtic fans around the world.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year as we gather with friends and families to celebrate the big day.

Of course, there is no Celtic in action, but there is still plenty of football to enjoy over the festive period.

Wilfried Nancy’s side face Livingston on 27 December before taking on Motherwell to round off the year.

As we know, there is no football on Christmas Day, but it used to be a traditional game day many years ago.

The last time this took place was in 1971, and fans were treated to a five-goal thriller.

Celtic were in a title race with Aberdeen at the time, and knew that they couldn’t afford any slip-ups early doors.

The game against Hearts was a chance to remain in top spot and the Bhoys got off to the perfect start as Harry Hood scored in the opening minute of the game.

Hearts weren’t there to roll over, though, and equalised on the half-hour mark following a sustained spell of pressure.

Jimmy Johnstone then put the Bhoys back in front before Dixie Deans continued his incredible goal-a-game record to make it 3-1 in the 70th minute.

Another goal from the visitors threatened a nervy end to the game, but the Hoops fans inside Celtic Park were able to go home to their Christmas dinners happy in the knowledge that they would be top of the table.
