However, the Welsh internationalist is preparing to move on during this window as he comes into the final 12 months of his contract.
After an impressive campaign in Belgium last season, on loan at Cercle Brugge, many sides are likely to have their eye on the 21-year-old.
That includes Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.
Now, according to a report from German outlet Bild, three English Premier League sides also have Matondo on their transfer list as they prepare for next season.
Brentford, Leeds United, and newly promoted Nottingham Forest have joined a host of teams across Europe, keeping a close eye on Matondo this summer.
The report also states that several French clubs are also in the race to sign the winger, including RC Lens, Stade Brest and City Group side Troyes.
Matondo is a highly regarded talent, who will have a number of options this summer.
Having come through the Manchester City academy and being praised by managers such as Pep Guardiola, there is no doubt that Matondo is a talented winger.
The youngster has shown how keen he is to go out and play football, leaving City to join Schalke in 2019 at just 18-years-old.
Despite his move to Germany not working out as he would have hoped, the winger has delivered on the first team stage in Belgium last campaign.
Now, going into this summer, Matondo has a number of suitors who are looking to bring him back to the UK.
Celtic could be an attractive option, given the guarantee of Champions League football heading into the 2022/23 campaign.
Ange Postecoglou appears keen to add another option in wide areas to his squad. But, he will face a potential transfer battle if he wants that man to be Rabbi Matondo.
