Celtic have officially announced that striker Adam Idah has signed from Norwich City until the end of the season on loan.

There is no purchase option included in the statement confirming the loan switch.

Idah is a 23-cap international with the Republic of Ireland and has made 115 appearances for the Canaries, netting 17 times.

It was previously reported that the 22-year-old turned down moves to other clubs from England and Europe hunting his signature, with Celtic his preferred destination.

Celtic have been on the hunt for another forward option all January, with someone else needed to provide backup to Kyogo Furuhashi, complementing Hyeongyu Oh who is currently at the Asian Cup with South Korea.

The striker said [Celtic FC]: “It’s such a huge club with such a big history behind it and I can’t even put into words what it’s like to be at Celtic.

“My family and my friends are all delighted that I’m here and I just can’t wait to get started. All of us back home support Celtic so it’s huge for me and I’m so excited to be here.

“I want to play games, I want to help this team and the aim for me is to win those two trophies and I want to score a lot of goals for this club.”

Idah is match-fit and played for Norwich as recently as Sunday, against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

The hope will be he is included in match squads quite quickly, potentially even for this weekend’s trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen.

As of yet, there have not been any other incoming transfer announcements from Celtic on deadline day but there’s hope that the club continue to work on a deal for a left-back.
