Thomas Henry’s UK representative has confirmed his preferred move this summer is to Celtic.
The striker, who currently plays for OH Leuven in Belgium, is said to want a switch to the Bhoys rather than other clubs such as KAA Gent.
Paul Tait, his UK agent, told Football Insider: “Thomas’ preference is to join Celtic if they can agree a fee with Leuven.
“Gent have agreed a fee with Leuven and they are in pole position to land Thomas.”
The outlet reports that the fee that Gent have had accepted is £4.5m, which is well within Celtic’s price range.
However, the Bhoys are in a difficult situation in that Henry might not actually be needed at the club.

The future of Odsonne Edouard is in doubt, of course, but there’s been a growing suggestion he could in fact see out his contract at Celtic rather than secure a multi-million-pound move away this month.
If that happens, it seems doubtful that Celtic will be buying another striker. Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths are also already on the books, as well as new star Kyogo Furuhashi.
Henry looks like a fantastic choice if Edouard does end up leaving. He scored 21 goals in 31 league appearances last term in Belgium, also contributing six assists. This season he’s again in red hot form, netting three goals in his first three matches. [Transfermarkt]
Bringing in that kind of quality would be very welcome. But I can see the argument for waiting on this one.
Some will argue we can afford to bring him in any way. However, with other priorities in the squad and other high earning attackers on the books we need to be realistic.
If Gent pay the money first, then so be it.
