Celtic have officially confirmed the signing of Lanus and Argentinian left-back Alexandro Bernabei.

The 21-year-old becomes the Hoops third signing of the window, joining Cameron Carter-Vickers and Ben Siegrist in time for pre-season.

Posting on social media this morning, the club announced that Bernabei had signed a five-year deal at Parkhead and would sport the number 25 shirt next season.

After weeks of speculation, Ange Postecoglou finally has fresh competition at left-back, with Bernabei expected to compete alongside Greg Taylor for a place in the side.

Speaking for the first time since officially becoming a Celtic player, the Argentine under-23 internationalist explained why he signed a long-term deal at Parkhead.

Bernabei also outlined his ambitions for the future and detailed a conversation with the Celtic manager that convinced him to move to Glasgow.

He said [Celtic FC]: “I’m very happy to be here, and I feel grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity.

“I feel proud to be playing in Europe because it was one of my dreams, and I’m excited to train with and play with my new teammates.

“The stadium is just incredible. The people, the club, teammates, and the coaching staff are all incredible. I’m very happy to be here, and I feel grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity.

He added: “I spoke to the manager, and he said he believed in me and my quality and that I can adapt to the team quickly.

“This is my first time in Scotland and Glasgow, and I’ve seen the city on the internet, and it looks very beautiful, so I’m excited to be able to get to know it more.

“The objective is to become champion, and we want to achieve big things as a club, and I would like to achieve all of our objectives this year.”

Bernabei buzzing to be at Parkhead.

After hearing from Bernabei for the first time, the left-back is clearly delighted to be at Parkhead and looking forward to the new season.

Once again, Ange Postecoglou appears to have played an instrumental role in bringing the new addition to the club, and I am sure he will be delighted to have his man on board.

The talented defender is now expected to join up with his new teammates as the Hoops prepare to step-up pre-season preparations by heading to Austria early next week.

Celtic fans may catch their first glimpse of the South American as early as next Wednesday, as Postecoglou’s side face their first pre-season friendly of the summer.
