Ange Postecoglou believes Celtic have completed the ‘crucial’ bits of transfer business he wanted to do this summer.

The Bhoys have signed up Alexandro Bernabei, Aaron Mooy, Ben Siegrist and Moritz Jenz, as well as completed permanent deals for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota.

He’s addressed the main areas of concern heading into the new season, and it sounds like any more business will be supplemental rather than game-changing.

In a press conference this afternoon, Postecoglou was asked about the potential of completing more business, stating [Celtic YouTube]: “We’re happy with the ones we’ve brought in. There were some areas I thought we needed some strengthening, particularly from a squad perspective.

“Goalkeeper, left-back, centre-back, midfield were definitely areas that I just wanted to make us a little bit stronger and a bit more robust – so we’ve got more options through there. It’s great we’ve done that.

“Obviously, signing Jota and Cameron on permanent deals is also, for us, an important part of what we’re trying to build. So yeah, I’m pleased with where we’re at.

“There’s still three or four weeks of the window open and as I’ve said we’ll still be active and agile to see whether we can still strengthen in areas. There will be outgoings, and some potential to bring people in. There’s nothing set in stone with that.

“From my perspective, where we sit right now, we’ve done the crucial bits I thought we needed to do. If there’s some areas we can still improve on, we will.”

Celtic have managed to move on a few players with no future at the club this summer, most notably Vasilis Barkas, Boli Bolingoli and Ismaila Soro.

It sounds like there would have to be further outward movement for the Bhoys to bite on the transfer fee and wages of another incoming player that can play at the level of Ange’s current squad.

Adding another versatile striking option would be a popular move with supporters, as would the addition of another defensive midfielder if James McCarthy isn’t going to play a prominent role, as looks likely.

As always, 67 Hail Hail be on the hunt for Celtic transfer updates at home and abroad!
