Ange Postecoglou has spoken about the remainder of the January transfer window today and how Celtic will approach it after the capture of Matt O’Riley from MK Dons.

Celtic have signed five players so far in January, significantly boosting the quality and depth in Postecoglou’s first-team squad, especially in midfield.

Asked about what’s to come for Celtic in the final ten days, Postecoglou said in a press conference today [Sky Sports]: “As I said last week, we’ll stay agile if circumstances change. I don’t want to give Michael [Nicholson] and the finance department too many sleepless nights. We’re not talking with anyone or looking to bring anyone else in.

“In terms of moving out, we’re not trying actively to get anyone out of the club. It’s just about trying to find opportunities for players who haven’t had a lot of game time. We’re working with a few of the boys to see what opportunities there are out there.

“With experience, those kinds of things tend to happen later in the window. In the final week, we’ll see what opportunities are there for the lads who want to look elsewhere.”

This is about what we would have expected from Ange today. He’s not ruling anything out but as it stands he’s happy with the squad he has in place.

It’s also been in the offing for a while that a number of fringe players would be moved on, either on loan or a permanent basis.

Neil Lennon signings such as Vasili Barkas and Ismaila Soro simply aren’t featuring right now and likely what to get regular football elsewhere.
