Ange Postecoglou speaks on Celtic moves for Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz
Ange Postecoglou has reacted to the double Celtic signing of Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz this afternoon, after the club officially announced deals for both.
The Bhoys have snapped free agent Mooy up on a two-year deal, while Jenz makes the switch from Ligue 1 side Lorient on a season-long loan with the option to buy.
Postecoglou told the official website: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring in both Aaron and Moritz to the club, and I’m sure they’ll be great additions to our squad.
“I obviously know Aaron from my time coaching the Australian national team, and he brings with him a wealth of experience at both club and international level.
“Moritz is a player we’ve been aware for a while now, and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to sign him.
“They’ve already had the chance to meet the rest of the squad, and I’m sure they’ll settle in very quickly into what is a very welcoming group of players, and I know that our supporters will be looking forward to seeing them both in a Celtic jersey.”
Players had been needed in both positions to provide better competition for the current regular starters, as well as offer a better quality of rotational option.
As the manager states, neither player is an unknown quantity to the manager or the club.
Jenz has been a long-term target of the Bhoys, having originally targeted him for a transfer last July before moving to France.
Postecoglou has also worked extensively with Mooy as manager of Australia.
The signings come after permanent moves for Jota and Cameron-Carter Vickers, with Alexandro Bernabei and Ben Siegrist also joining up this summer.
With six weeks left until the end of the transfer window, there’s still time for a little bit more business yet.
In other news, Champions League plans are being worked on in Celtic training already.
