Barry Douglas may be ideal replacement should Tierney leave Celtic

At the moment Kieran Tierney will be a Celtic player next season. Arsenal might have made a move for the player, but the bid has been turned down.

However, should any club meet Celtic’s valuation for Tierney, the Hoops may decide to sell the player. Should that be the case, a new left-back would need to be brought in as soon as possible.

A player that should be under consideration is Leeds’ Scottish international Barry Douglas.

Regular until injury

Douglas was a regular for Leeds last season, making 26 appearances before a knee injury ruled him out of Leeds’ push for promotion.

The player joined Leeds from Wolves, where he was a key man for the side which won the Championship in 2017-18.

Very impressive statistics

In that season for Wolves he scored five goals and had 15 assists, and those statistics should interest Celtic.

Naturally all at Celtic will be hoping that Tierney does not leave this summer. He is one of the club’s most important players.

However, should Tierney move on, the fans will demand that a replacement of high quality is brought to the club.

That player could be Douglas, particularly if he can replicate his Wolves form. 15 assists in a season is a superb record for a left-back.

We shall know soon enough if Kieran Tierney will remain a Celtic player next season. Should he depart, Barry Douglas has to be worth considering as his replacement.
