A recent report claims that a player who was linked with a move to Celtic earlier this summer is ‘desperate’ to quit his current club.

The Sun is reporting that Asmir Begovic wants to quit Bournemouth after falling out of the first-team picture. The report goes on to suggest that even though the player is on £80,000 a week, he is so eager to play football he will ‘consider all options’.

Could one of those options be Celtic? The Daily Star reported back in June that the Hoops were interested in signing the player.

With the issues Celtic have had at goalkeeper recently, could now be the time for the Hoops to firm up their interest in the player?

Wages could be an issue

One obvious problem would be the wages. Celtic cannot afford to give a player £80,000 a week. However, perhaps they could come to a solution with Bournemouth on the matter.

Another issue is that Begovic has two years left on his contract. That could limit any potential move to a loan deal.

It will be intriguing to see if the Hoops decide to move for a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes. That could depend on any number of things, including how severe Scott Bain’s injury is. If they do want to move for one, Begovic seems to be available.
