Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes the club haven’t spent a great deal of money as of yet in the summer transfer window and expects more business to be done over the next seven days.
The Bhoys have concluded deals for Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo, Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah so far but haven’t yet strengthened over where the team were at come the end of last season.
That remains the aim for the Celtic boss and he’s adamant there is scope to bring in more quality before the deadline passes.
Rodgers is insistent any incoming players aren’t contingent on players leaving the club, with Matt O’Riley in particular said to be closing in on a big-money switch to Brighton.
Brendan Rodgers on Celtic transfers
Speaking to Sky Sports on Friday afternoon, the Bhoys manager said: “We’re in a really good place but we want to improve as a team and a club and that’ll be the objective over the course of the next week.
“We haven’t spent a great deal of money in terms of where we are at and expect to be at as a club. I would look at us over the coming week to be able to do some business. It shouldn’t be reliant on players going out.
“We’re running at the same as where we were at last season. If our idea is to improve then we would hopefully be active in the market over the next week.”

What Celtic still need in the transfer market
A left-back is of particular importance right now with no recognised senior backup for Greg Taylor.
A midfielder is a big priority, too. Celtic are said to want two of those if O’Riley ends up leaving for England.
Many fans are looking for a centre-back upgrade to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers while Celtic may well be on the lookout for a striker amidst the recent speculation surrounding Kyogo Furuhashi and Man City.
There’s plenty of business to be done. The board have a lot of work to do to satisfy the manager and fans by the time the deadline passes.
