Matt O’Riley and Adam Idah are hot topic among Celtic supporters as their respective futures come under the microscope.
Kicking off, O’Riley is in talks with Brighton & Hove Albion as Brendan Rodgers looks to keep hold of his prize asset at Parkhead.
The Denmark international has also attracted attention from Atalanta, Southampton and Juventus this window after registering 19 goals and 18 assists last term.
On the flip side, Adam Idah could return to Celtic following news the club are in advanced talks with Norwich City over a potential comeback.
Negotiations are ongoing, with a fee of £6 million plus add-ons said to be the centre of their focus. All parties are now working towards a conclusion, hoping to reach a deal.
Speaking earlier today, Rodgers has now delivered an update on both situations as speculation intensifies.
Brendan Rodgers on Matt O’Riley and Adam Idah
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rodgers stated when asked about O’Riley’s future and if there have been any recent developments: “No, nothing. I think there are obviously bids that will come in for Matt, but like I said, I repeat, there’s no need for us to sell; we don’t want to sell.
“If there’s an offer that comes in that fits the valuation of the player, that’s a different matter. We all know Celtic and the position that we’re in as a club.

“But until that moment, I’m fairly relaxed because, as I said, he’s training really well, he’s working really hard, and until that changes, we just continue focused on performing.”
Later, he remained coy on Idah, as he said: “There’s nothing to report at the minute. I think there’s clearly ongoing discussions with the clubs, but there’s no more to say on that.”
Brendan Rodgers remains relaxed during the window
The main takeaway from his comments is that Rodgers appears to be relaxed about both situations, indicating that he has probably mapped out every potential scenario in his head.
Taking the Idah predicament into account, he is hardly going to give away anything when a deal isn’t cut and dry. Until any contracts are signed, the Irishman remains a Norwich player and will be spoken about in the media as such.
With O’Riley, everyone knows he could dominate the headlines for weeks to come as his future hangs in the balance. Nevertheless, Rodgers has remained bullish in his stance, claiming that there is a valuation to be met before the club will even get round the table.
That can only bode well for Celtic, who won’t be keen to sell their prize asset for anything under a premium. Hopefully, the Bhoys can fend off interest and retain the services of the Denmark international.
Supplement the squad with some quality incomings alongside keeping O’Riley, and you could be looking at a squad capable of having a tilt at Champions League success.
