Celtic are in advanced talks with Tomas Cvancara, it is being reported.
It has been a long, long January for Martin O’Neill, waiting for much-needed reinforcements in his attack.
And we finally look to have our striker, after three weeks of searching. Sky Germany chief Florian Plettenberg reports that Cvancara has agreed personal terms with the Hoops.
Czech international Cvancara was in the Jablonec side that faced Ange Postecoglou’s Celts in 2021; losing 7-2 on aggeregate.
And now, he’s on his way to Glasgow on loan with an option to buy.
It looks like we finally have our striker… what are your first impressions of Tomas Cvancara
Celtic agree personal terms with Tomas Cvancara
Cvancara is contracted to Borussia Monchengladbach, who paid £9 million to take him from Sparta Prague in 2023.
Largely a bench player during his time in Germany, he was loaned out to Antalyaspor at the start of this season.

That move hasn’t worked out, for him or the club, who currently sit on the edge of the relegation zone in the Turkish Super Lig.
He hasn’t been called up by Czechia in over a year – he will be itching to break back into the squad ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers in March.
They face Ireland in the semi-finals of the play-offs, before one of either Denmark or North Macedonia for a place in the tournament in North America.
6 ft 3 in tall, Cvancara possesses both pace and power. He certainly offers Celtic something different to what they have currently.
It also continues the theme of O’Neill targeting tall players this winter, as he has with both Aurele Amenda and Jamie Lawrence.

Martin O’Neill on Celtic transfer question
Speaking after the Auchinleck Talbot win on Sunday, O’Neill left Neil Lennon in stitches with his response to being asked for a transfer update.
Asked by Michael Stewart if there was anything imminent, he said: “No, I don’t think so. I think we have a fair idea of what we need to do, Michael. We want to obviously try and get on with it.
“Well, you are right. I do dread this question. We are making some progress, and hopefully we will get the players in before the end of the season.
“I am only kidding.”
