Celtic and Brendan Rodgers told to sign ‘excellent’ Dundee player who is out of contract this summer

Celtic have been brilliant at picking out gems via the transfer market.

In some cases, such as the rise of Nicolas Kuhn, the players have needed time to prove their worth, before they showcase what they are all about.

Another name who transformed in Celtic colours is the now-departed Matt O’Riley, but all of those were brought in from outside of Scotland.

It doesn’t happen often, but in today’s money-crazy football world, as well as the influx of foreign stars, you aren’t seeing as much emphasis put on the domestic players.

In the summer, Celtic showed their faith in a thriving star from Dundee when they secured the signature of Luke McCowan.

The all-action midfielder, although he isn’t a regular starter at Celtic Park, has performed very well and is heading towards winning the Treble.

But now the champions-elect have been told to knock on Dundee’s door again.

Celtic told to sign Josh Mulligan from Dundee

Tony Docherty’s side have caused the big boys many issues this season, including netting six goals in their past two home matches against Celtic and Rangers.

One man who has been a regular for Docherty has been Josh Mulligan, and now he has been told by the Open Goal panel to secure a move to Parkhead.

Mulligan’s contract at Dundee expires in the summer, and as of this moment, the 22-year-old is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

“The boy Adewumi (for Dundee) is really good,” said Andy Halliday. “He is really good, but Mulligan. Has he signed a contract at Dundee?”

Si Ferry responded: “I don’t think so.” Before Paul Slane added: “Celtic and Rangers should be going for him.”

Ferry then stated: “He puts a lot of it down to his time at Peterhead. He was speaking about it,” as Halliday added: “He was excellent.”

Mulligan’s stats for Dundee this season

Mulligan has been deployed on the right side of midfield this season, and it’s an area Celtic could bolster because they aren’t exactly stacked in that position.

Added to that, at the age of 22, there is so much potential and room for improvement, so Rodgers can help the versatile midfielder develop as much as his talents desire.
