Celtic are reportedly back in for Jakob Breum of Go Ahead Eagles.
It’s a name that might be PTSD-triggering for some Hoops fans, given how intensely and publicly he was pursued in the now-infamous summer 2025 transfer window.
The Eagles’ sporting director publicly mocked Celtic’s attempts to sign Breum, drawing unfavourable comparisons between them and Rangers’ attempts to sign Oliver Antman.
In the end, he stayed put at the Eredivisie side, despite Parkhead chiefs having multiple bids knocked back.

Celtic resurrect interest in Go Ahead Eagles’ Jakob Breum
According to Stephen McGowan of The Herald, Celtic’s interest in Breum has been resurrected ahead of the summer.
The report says that several bids were made to bring him to Glasgow in January.

We are now firmly in saga territory, with the Hoops’ interest in the Dane so well-publicised. He is reportedly valued at £4 million; Celtic have previously sent bids worth less than half of that figure.
Breum is 22 and is now in the final year of his contract. He racked up eleven goal contributions from midfield as Go Ahead finished 12th this season.
Celtic’s midfield is set for a major overhaul this summer, with Reo Hatate, Arne Engels and Paulo Bernardo all expected to leave.
Exits for Callum McGregor and Benjamin Nygren are yet to be ruled out either, whilst Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s short-term contract is up.
Of those players, Breum profiles most similarly to Hatate. Just like the Japan international, he used to be a winger and isn’t afraid to show off his footwork in the middle of the park.
He has six under-21 caps for Denmark to his name, and has been linked with Manchester United in the past.

Jakob Breum on nearly joining Celtic
Speaking to Dutch outlet Destentor earlier this season, Breum reflected on the saga last summer, and didn’t seem too bothered.
He said: “To be honest, it wasn’t a huge issue for me.
“Of course, when reports appear in the media after you haven’t heard anything for a month and family members ask if you’re going, it’s strange.
“But I tried to remain professional and also told the manager that I really wanted to play for this club. Hopefully, everyone saw that during that period.”
