Celtic are back in for Kieron Bowie, according to reports in Italy.

The Scottish striker made the £7 million move from Hibs to Hellas Verona in January, and has landed on his feet in Italy.

Unfortunately for his club, this hasn’t been enough to prevent relegation to Serie B, making a rapid exit possible for Bowie.

Clubs from Italy and Germany are keeping an eye, but according to a report, none more so than Celtic.

Celtic ‘eyeing’ Hellas Verona’s Kieron Bowie

According to Larena in Italy, Celtic are keeping a close eye on Bowie, and are currently the biggest “threat” of an offer to Hellas Verona.

Bologna, who have established a recent history for Scottish players, have also sent ‘timid’ signals.

Bowie was widely mentioned as a Celtic target in January. Then at Hibs, the striker was a man in demand — however, Celtic ended up making the loan signings of Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu.

Neither of that duo appeared in a single Hoops matchday squad after the split.

Meanwhile, Bowie has scored over half of Hellas Verona’s goals since he moved to the Serie A side in January.

Bowie has scored in three of Hellas’ last five games, including draws away against Juventus and Inter Milan.

Speaking about his decision to leave, the striker revealed that his heart was set on a move abroad, saying: “I think a few times, maybe something had been mentioned.

“I didn’t want to stay in Scotland, or even in the UK. I wanted to try and do something a bit different, culturally, and experience something new.”

Martin O’Neill’s Celtic response when asked about Kieron Bowie

Asked about Bowie in January, Martin O’Neill opened the door to moves for players on the Scottish market, though this didn’t materialise.

He said: “Yeah, there’s definitely players in the Scottish market that could play on our team.

Somebody who can maybe find the net for us. And if not, then somebody maybe who could hold it up and bring other people into the game. Daizen does really well.

“He got caught once, but nearly scored. And then he played one out, which came towards me. I think he thought I was playing! But, yeah, so something like that there is what I need.”
