Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has shared that the club are closing in on more winter transfer signings before the January window has even officially opened.

The Bhoys have already brought in Alistair Johnston and Yuki Kobayashi from MLS and the J-League, both of whom are training and embedded with the squad ahead of potential debuts next month.

Now Postecoglou has shared they’re getting close to others, even with key staff at Celtic taking some time off over the Christmas holidays.

The Celtic boss said [The Scottish Sun]: “We’re getting pretty close now. I know Michael and Chris want to spend some time with their families at Christmas.

“We’re working on things. There are still a couple that we are kind of investigating at the moment. We will see how things transpire over the next week or so. We’re not even into January yet so there is still a bit of time.”

To date, the majority of Postecoglou’s signings at Celtic have played a prominent role in the first-team squad. There’s now an expectation that anyone brought in will immediately be competing for places week-to-week.

That means these mystery incomings are likely of a certain quality, which will of course heighten excitement amongst supporters who want to see Postecoglou bring this team to a new level over the next 12 months.

Fans have become accustomed to Celtic doing the majority of their business in the summer months, but Postecoglou has changed that and we could be getting an serious injection of talent over the next six weeks.
