Ange Postecoglou insists Celtic are “not stressed” about transfer business, sounding like a man fully in control of the situation this summer.

The club have already made significant acquisitions since the end of the season.

Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers have signed up permanently for big fees, while Alexandro Bernabei and Ben Siegrist have also been added to the squad.

Celtic have managed to move on a couple off the wage bill in the other direction too, with Vasilis Barkas and Ismaila Soro heading off on loan.

Since Bernabei’s arrival from Lanus it’s all gone rather quiet on the transfer front but Postecoglou has insisted he will bring more players to the club and has the full trust of the board.

Speaking to The Herald this weekend, he said: “The club have supported me from the moment I’ve come in. You saw that in January, we brought in four players in January pretty quickly, and I think that was a real sort of pivotal point in our season and our attempt to win the league. They’ve done the same now.

“The club understands the vision we have, what we want to create and what we want to build. The whole club has been really supportive of me. With Michael (Nicholson) and Chris (McKay) and the board and the key decision-makers, I think there is a fair bit of trust.

“I had to earn that trust last year, particularly in the first window. I think they feel like they understand me and what I’m trying to do. That makes things a lot easier.

“It’s not really a battle for me to try to convince people. I’m totally understanding of the kind of markets we need to be looking at and financially where we are, so I think there is an alignment there within the whole club. That’s what I’m saying. We’re not stressed about our situation. We will bring in one or two but I’ll make sure they are the right ones.”

Making a decision on players coming in isn’t easy. It might be more straightforward when they’ve been here on loan first, but it’s a big commitment and essentially a leap of faith otherwise.

Postecoglou is making it clear he isn’t on a strict timetable and will sign the right player on the right terms when it comes along.

There are still seven weeks left of the window and Celtic have a far easier August to contend with this year owing to our Champions League qualification.

It can be frustrating as supporters for there to be a lull in activity, but the Celtic boss is making it clear there’s no hitch to his moves this summer internally and that there’s nothing to be concerned about.

He’s earned trust with us as much as the board, so let’s give him the time needed. More business is on the way.
