Celtic boss teases "more announcements" after deal for Josip Juranovic
Ange Postecoglou says he is hopeful of Celtic making “more announcements” over the next few days after completing a deal for Josip Juranovic this weekend.
The club have announced that the Croatian defender will arrive on a five-year deal, with the manager expecting him to take part in training on Monday or Tuesday.
Celtic aren’t finished in the transfer market though. The manager confirmed that today before the match against St Mirren.
He was asked about the reported Celtic interest in Kevin Nisbet. And while he wouldn’t be drawn on that specifically, he did say the club are working on more deals.
Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland, the Bhoys boss said [14:11]: “I ain’t quashing, denying or confirming. I was really happy to talk about Josip today because I’ve been sitting on the fence on that one. I don’t like sitting on the fence, I like to talk about the ones we’ve done.
“There’s still some work we’re doing. Hopefully we’ll be able to make more announcements in the next few days.”
After the signature of a right-back that position looks solid for now, with Anthony Ralston currently performing well.
Attention could now turn to the centre-half position, or even back to the attack with strikers and left-wingers linked with the club this summer.
There’s also the possibility of bringing in a left-back to compete with Greg Taylor. We still have Boli Bolingoli in place but he’s barely been seen since Postecoglou arrived at the club.
Celtic are now just two or three signings away from completing a very fruitful transfer window. Postecoglou and the recruitment team were tasked with bringing in basically a whole new side.
The guts of that are now in place with players such as Tom Rogic and Ryan Christie also turning around their form.
I am no confident the club can put the finishing touches to the squad in the last ten days of the window.
