Celtic are considering letting Yuki Kobayashi go out on loan this summer, according to a report.
Football Scotland have offered an update on the Japanese defender who has endured a difficult period since his January move from Vissel Kobe.
Kobayashi started out well for the Hoops but had some testing games at the end of last season, and has missed the past few weeks after landing awkwardly in a friendly in his homeland.
The signing of Maik Nawrocki and the potential arrival of Gustaf Lagerbielke may have Kobayashi further down the pecking order, even if Carl Starfelt is likely to depart the scene.
The Tuesday report says that Celtic are “currently considering” sending the 23-year-old out on loan this summer.
It is also reported that Kobayashi has recently moved agency, going from UDN Sports to the well-known CAA Base.

While he has struggled recently, the defender has also shown some positive moments. The club gave him a five-year deal a matter of months ago (Celtic) so it seems unlikely that they’d completely write him off this early.
It would be good to see him go out on loan this season, perhaps even to a Scottish club. There, he could learn more about our game and grow as a player.
He may also head back to Japan on loan, but a move like that would perhaps suggest that he doesn’t have as much of a future in Glasgow.
He’s yet another player to keep an eye on between now and September 1.
