Celtic’s interest in Kieron Bowie has never waned despite the former Hibs striker’s move to Hellas Verona in January of this year.
After Verona were relegated from Serie A, Celtic’s links with Bowie intensified as the Parkhead club look to bolster their forward line for the season ahead.
And now, it appears that Verona have set their asking price for the Scottish international striker after journalist Alfredo Pedullà posted an update online.
Kieron Bowie to Celtic… yes or no?
Celtic learn Verona want €10m for Kieron Bowie
Bowie moved to Verona in a deal worth £6m less than six months ago. And after scoring four goals in 14 Serie A games, the relegated club have made it clear they want top dollar for the 23-year-old.
Pedulla posted on X, “Cagliari has never approached Broja, they really like Bowie but Verona’s asking price is 10 million (Bologna and two foreign clubs are in the mix too).”
At €10m, [£8.6m], that price could be a bit steep for a Celtic board who have become notoriously difficult to deal with in transfer windows.
Should Celtic spend over £8m on Kieron Bowie?
At 23, Bowie is certainly in the profile of player Celtic like. Young enough to develop and sell on for a future profit.
However, at £8.6m is that price too steep to appeal to the Parkhead bean counters?
Bowie has scored 63 goals in 230 career games. At Hibs, the young striker netted 15 in 52 outings for the Easter Road club.
With two Scotland caps, it’s clear Bowie has caught the eye at international level, even though his minutes in the dark blue shirt were limited.
If Verona want €10m for Bowie, there is not a chance Celtic will pay that kind of money judging by what they have spent in the last three transfer windows.
If the Italians are headstrong and are not willing to negotiate, the chances of seeing Bowie in a Celtic shirt next season are virtually non-existent.
