Boli Bolingoli has left Celtic on a year-long loan to Istanbul Basaksehir and Celtic fans couldn’t be more delighted.

After his disgraceful COVID breach – which involved him secretly travelling to Spain on holiday, not telling the club and subsequently failing to self isolate before playing in a Celtic match – there is little patience for him to have a future at Celtic Park.

Neil Lennon has made that perfectly clear and the club have worked very quickly to ensure he doesn’t return to Lennoxtown and isn’t involved in the Bhoys squad.

The club made the official announcement earlier today.

The Turkish side meanwhile confirmed on their official website that they have an option to buy the left-back and we can all only hope that happens.

His exit now opens up room in the squad for Celtic to land a left wing-back target who can fit into Lennon’s preferred 3-5-2 formation as competition for Greg Taylor.

The former Killie man missed out yesterday, with right-winger James Forrest preferred in the role.

Obviously a more natural choice would be beneficial and that is likely going to be the club’s transfer priority in the closing stages of the extended transfer window.

Hopefully the club aren’t losing money on any Bolingoli wages after what happened and proper resources can be put towards a quality repelacement.

In truth, he is not a big miss to the playing squad, regardless of the drama.

Although initially given a chance by the manager, it quickly became apparent he doesn’t have the defensive chops to succeed as a left-back in Scotland.

Fans are delighted that the club have been able to find a club willing to take him, signing on to Twitter today to share their thoughts…
