Celtic fans have taken to Victor Wanyama’s Twitter to beg the player to sign, after he sent out a happy new year post.
The midfielder, who was signed by Tottenham Hotspur for £11m in 2016 (BBC), has been the subject of intense Celtic speculation over the last couple of months.
Manager Neil Lennon admitted he was a player he’d love to sign in January during Celtic’s AGM in November. Since then, supporters have harboured hopes he could be set to make a sensational return to Glasgow.
Wanyama is the sort of combative and physical midfielder we badly need in the squad, something that was never more apparent than during Sunday’s defeat to Rangers at Celtic Park.
Still just 28, he has the quality required to make a huge impact at the club, much in the manner of old teammate Fraser Forster.
The Kenyan international doesn’t appear to have much of a future at Spurs either, having made just four appearances all season. In total he’s played just 122 minutes of football for the English Premier League outfit.

His happy new year’s message was entirely innocuous, but supporters took it as a chance to let him know just how much he is wanted at Celtic Park…
